Base emergency responders are working in support of the DOD’s immediate response authority and a memorandum of agreement between Peterson AFB and El Paso County to support firefighting efforts in northeast Colorado Springs to preserve life and property.
Two firefighter support personnel and a 5,000 gallon water tender from the 21st Space Wing are joining the Black Forest firefighting effort.
“We will continue to respond to the community as requested through our mutual aid agreements,” said Col. Chris Crawford, commander of the 21st Space Wing. “As fellow members of this community, we understand the need for a unified effort from all agencies involved in this response.”
