Atlantis Given “Go” for Deorbit Burn

Mission Control Capcom Barry Wilmore gave space shuttle Atlantis Commander Chris Ferguson a “go” for the deorbit burn. The shuttle’s two Orbital Maneuvering System (OMS) engines will fire at 4:49:04 a.m. EDT for three minutes, 16 seconds and slow Atlantis by 331 feet per second. Landing is expected at 5:56:58 a.m. at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, runway 15.
