{"id":19,"date":"2002-11-30T22:53:41","date_gmt":"2002-12-01T03:53:41","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2002-11-30T22:53:41","modified_gmt":"2002-12-01T03:53:41","slug":"nasa-selects-ssai-to-support-terrestrial-physics-lab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=19","title":{"rendered":"NASA SELECTS SSAI TO SUPPORT TERRESTRIAL PHYSICS LAB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>     NASA selected Science Systems and Applications, Inc. <br \/>\n(SSAI), of Lanham, Md., for a $67.1 million contract to <br \/>\nsupport the Laboratory for Terrestrial Physics at NASA&#8217;s <br \/>\nGoddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md. <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nUnder terms of the cost-plus-award-fee contract, SSAI will <br \/>\nprovide the Terrestrial Physics Laboratory at Goddard with <br \/>\nsupport services, including research, computing, science <br \/>\ninstrumentation, administration, and calibration and <br \/>\nvalidation. <\/p>\n<p>\nSubcontractors to SSAI under this effort are Decision Systems <br \/>\nTechnologies, Inc., of Rockville, Md., and Science <br \/>\nApplications International Corporation in Beltsville, Md. <\/p>\n<p>\nThe contract is a 100-percent small-business set-aside <br \/>\nprocurement. <\/p>\n<p>\nThe Laboratory for Terrestrial Physics advances NASA&#8217;s <br \/>\nmission of understanding and protecting our home planet <br \/>\nthrough the exploration of the physics and dynamics of the <br \/>\nEarth, as well as of other planets and their satellites. The <br \/>\nLab&#8217;s innovative programs study the global properties of the <br \/>\nsolid Earth, global- and regional-scale vegetation <br \/>\nmonitoring, biosphere-atmosphere interactions, and laser <br \/>\nremote sensing. <\/p>\n<p>\nThe Lab defines, designs, builds and demonstrates instruments <br \/>\nfor Earth and planetary remote-sensing science programs and <br \/>\ndevelops reliable, low-cost computing systems important for <br \/>\nthe production, distribution and analysis of regional and <br \/>\nglobal data sets.
