In addition, the head teacher\u00a0<strong>Alan Gray G4DJX<\/strong> is a very active radio amateur who is extremely supportive of this contact.<\/p>\n<p>ARISS UK (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) has provided and set up all necessary radio equipment such as low earth orbit satellite tracking antennas and radios, to establish a fully functional, direct radio link with the ISS from the school premises. In a ten-minute window when the ISS will be over the UK, an amateur radio contact will be established with Tim, and students will be able to ask him questions about his life and work on board the ISS.<\/p>\n<div data-shortcode=\"caption\" id=\"attachment_27639\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ukamsat.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/12\/sandringham-school-pupils-with-foundation-pass-certificates-credit-varc-greg-beacher-m0ppg.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-27639\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-27639\" src=\"https:\/\/ukamsat.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/12\/sandringham-school-pupils-with-foundation-pass-certificates-credit-varc-greg-beacher-m0ppg.jpg?w=300&#038;h=201\" alt=\"Sandringham School pupils with Foundation certificates - Credit VARC Greg Beacher M0PPG\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sandringham School pupils with Foundation certificates &#8211; Credit Verulam Amateur Radio Club<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Initial radio contact with Tim is expected to be made by Year 10 pupil <strong>Jessica Leigh M6LPJ<\/strong> who, along with two other students, passed her Foundation exam just before Christmas after training with the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VerulamARC\" >Verulam Amateur Radio Club<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Sandringham School <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/0B1uGINiJk1_CczF5YUw2bHd1S28\/view\" >Space Festival<\/a> started on January 5 and culminates with the live contact with astronaut Tim Peake on Friday January 8 at 08:47 GMT. The contact will be <a href=\"https:\/\/principia.ariss.org\/live\/\" >Web Streamed<\/a> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/principia.ariss.org\/sandringham-school-ariss-contact-details-of-events\/\" >Schedule<\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the week there has been a wide range of activities to engage the students in space, including a presentation from Spacecraft Engineer <strong>Sian Cleaver<\/strong>, mobile planetariums, an amateur radio buildathon, rocket workshops and talks on Mars and Cosmonauts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">As part of the Space festival some of the young women at Sandringham School built a model of the ISS.
