\nA new lifesize replica of ESA\u2019s CryoSat<\/a> ice mission has landed at Space Expo, the public visitor centre of ESA\u2019s technical centre in the Netherlands.\n<\/p>\n

\nLaunched in 2010, the ice satellite\u2019s distinctive shape is dominated by its double radar antennas, allowing it to chart changes in global ice cover thickness over time.\n<\/p>\n

\nThis new model replaces a display of the eight-tonne Envisat, Europe\u2019s largest ever environmental satellite, which was taken down in 2015<\/a> because of weather damage.\n<\/p>\n

\nSpace Expo<\/a> is Europe\u2019s first permanent space visitor centre, located beside ESA\u2019s technical centre in Noordwijk, hosting historic European space exhibits.
