In this photo they can be seen with some of their space-inspired artworks talking with ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAs well as presenting their projects to Matthias, they also displayed them to Joseph Rodesch, aka Mr Science \u2013 and viewers around the globe \u2013 during the live 48-hour Asteroid Day webcast.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nTheir projects were part of the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/icsc.cf\/\">Interdisciplinary Cre@tivity Skills Competition<\/a>\u201d, under this year\u2019s theme \u201cLiving and Working in Space\u201d, and who better than Matthias to discuss the interdisciplinary nature of exploring the Universe?\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWith a degree in materials sciences, Matthias went on to work for ESA as a flight controller for the International Space Station. Now an astronaut, he is studying impact craters on Earth and how they formed, including the impressive <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/N%C3%B6rdlinger_Ries\" title=\"N\u00f6rdliner Reis Crater\" >N\u00f6rdlinger Ries crater<\/a> in Germany, with an entire town within its boundaries.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cI\u2019m part of an astronaut generation that hopefully continues where we stopped 50-60 years ago with the Apollo mission.
