The origin of the clays \u2013 perhaps due to alteration of volcanic sediments \u2013 is of keen interest to researchers looking for a terrain where traces of life have been preserved and could be studied by a rover.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThis image was taken by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uahirise.org\/ESP_039154_1985\">MRO\u2019s high resolution camera HiRISE<\/a> and shows a relatively flat surface in this region.
