To overcome these limitations, scientists at UT Southwestern have introduced a novel optical design that transforms a lateral-scan motion into a scan in the third dimension. Their microscope realized laser focusing at a rate of 12 kHz and allowed observation of fast dynamics inside cells and the beating heart in Zebrafish embryos.
\n
\n
\n Click here for original story, Converting lateral scanning into axial focusing to speed up 3-D microscopy<\/a>
\n
\n
\nSource: Phys.org<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
In optical microscopy, high-speed volumetric imaging is limited by either the slow axial scanning rate or aberrations introduced by the z-scanning mechanism.
