The design represents a big step forward for the European space sector: versions can be manufactured to reproduce any surface pattern that antenna designers wish, something that was previously possible only with traditional solid antennas. ESA\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.largespace.de\/new-esa-project-amper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">AMPER<\/a>\u00a0(Advanced techniques for mesh reflector with improved radiation pattern performance) project was performed with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.largespace.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Large Space Structures GmbH<\/a>\u00a0in Germany as prime and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticra.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">TICRA<\/a>\u00a0in Denmark as subcontractor.
