{"id":723027,"date":"2022-05-06T03:14:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T07:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=723027"},"modified":"2022-05-06T03:14:00","modified_gmt":"2022-05-06T07:14:00","slug":"crew-3-splashdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=723027","title":{"rendered":"Crew-3 splashdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Crew-3_splashdown_card_full.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Crew Dragon capsule carrying ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer and NASA astronauts Raja Chari, Thomas Marshburn and Kayla Barron home from the International Space Station splashed down off the coast of Florida, USA, on Friday 6 May.<\/p>\n<p>Its return marks the end of Crew-3\u2019s almost six-month stay in orbit and the end of Matthias\u2019s first mission, known as Cosmic Kiss.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Crew-3 undocked from the International Space Station in Crew Dragon spacecraft <i>Endurance<\/i> at 06:20 BST\/07:20 CEST Thursday 5 May.<\/p>\n<p>When a Crew capsule splashes down, it is met by nearby ships with experts ready to bring it on board, open the hatch, and welcome the astronauts home.
