Doudna and Emmanuelle Charpentier was recognized with the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Commonly known as &#8220;genetic scissors,&#8221; CRISPR allows the introduction of the desired DNA sequence into (virtually) any spot of the genome, thus modifying or inactivating a gene.
