In one of her early studies, the graduate of Radcliffe College, self-described &#8220;scholar activist,&#8221; and author of 14 books, including the 1978 bestseller &#8220;Overcoming Math Anxiety,&#8221; gave elementary school students a sheet of paper, divided in half.
