{"id":741605,"date":"2022-11-23T10:47:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-23T14:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=741605"},"modified":"2022-11-23T10:47:00","modified_gmt":"2022-11-23T14:47:00","slug":"announcement-of-esa-astronaut-class-of-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=741605","title":{"rendered":"Announcement of ESA Astronaut Class of 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Announcement_of_ESA_Astronaut_Class_of_2022_card_full-2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These 17 astronaut candidates were among\u00a0the more than 22 500 candidates who submitted a valid application in 2021 in response to ESA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/About_Us\/Careers_at_ESA\/ESA_Astronaut_Selection\/Calling_all_future_astronauts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">call for new astronauts<\/a> for missions to the International Space Station and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>The names of the selected candidates were announced on 23 November 2022, following the ESA Council at Ministerial level.<\/p>\n<p>ESA\u2019s new class of astronauts includes career astronauts, members for the astronaut reserve and astronauts with a physical disability for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/About_Us\/Careers_at_ESA\/ESA_Astronaut_Selection\/Parastronaut_feasibility_project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">feasibility project<\/a>.
