Marcus\u2019s first mission to space, Muninn, takes its name from Norse mythology and the two raven accomplices of the god Odin \u2013 Muninn and Huginn. Together, the two symbolise the human mind.\u00a0Huginn\u00a0is the name of ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen\u2019s Space Station mission.<\/p>\n
According to the myth, the ravens serve as messengers and advisors to their god, sharing all they see and hear. Muninn comes from the Old Norse word\u00a0munr<\/i>, that can be translated as mind and passion. Huginn\u00a0is the name of ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n
In Muninn\u2019s patch, the raven glides around Earth to share the knowledge collected during Marcus\u2019s mission. The dark blue circle represents Earth and includes lighter lines depicting his homeland, Sweden. The patch displays the two colours of the Swedish flag \u2013 blue and yellow.<\/p>\n
The two white stripes next to Muninn\u2019s upper wing refer to the distinctive solar arrays of a space station, Marcus\u2019s future home in space.<\/p>\n
The stars resemble a Viking symbol for protection. The stars also remind Marcus of the beauty of snowflakes in cold winter days in Sweden.<\/p>\n
The lines from Muninn\u2019s lower wing are a reference to supersonic shock waves from jets. Marcus is a test pilot for the Swedish Air Force.<\/p>\n
