{"id":778244,"date":"2024-03-04T05:54:52","date_gmt":"2024-03-04T10:54:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=778244"},"modified":"2024-03-04T05:54:52","modified_gmt":"2024-03-04T10:54:52","slug":"cme-impact-sparks-g2-moderate-geomagnetic-storm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=778244","title":{"rendered":"CME impact sparks G2 &#8211; Moderate geomagnetic storm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>A coronal mass ejection (CME) produced by C5.1 solar flare on February 28, 2024, impacted Earth at approximately 08:45 UTC on March 3, producing  G2 \u2013 Moderate geomagnetic storming.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Following the CMEs arrival, total field strength reached 19 nT, Bz reached -17 nT and solar wind speeds increased from 280 to 375 km\/s. <\/p>\n<p>The geomagnetic field was at quiet to unsettled levels through midday UTC on March 3 and then increased in activity to minor storm (G1 \u2013 Minor) and major storm (G2 \u2013 Moderate) over the next couple of hours. <\/p>\n<p>CME impacts are now subsiding and only isolated active periods are expected on March 4.
