Image credit: NASA\/JPL-Caltech.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/planetary.s3.amazonaws.com\/sites\/planetary\/images\/image_library_earth.png\" alt=\"Earth\" class=\"inline h-5 w-5 float-left mr-1 mt-1\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Starship\u2019s first commercial customer has pulled out. <\/strong>Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa announced the cancellation of his \u201cdearMoon\u201d mission, which would have flown him and eight artists around the Moon on SpaceX\u2019s Starship vehicle. Maezawa cited ongoing delays in Starship\u2019s launch availability as the reason for having to cancel the mission.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/planetary.s3.amazonaws.com\/sites\/planetary\/images\/image_library_venus.png\" alt=\"Venus\" class=\"inline align-middle h-5 w-5 float-left mr-1 mt-1\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Japan has lost contact with its Venus orbiter. <\/strong>JAXA announced last week that it has lost contact with the Akatsuki spacecraft, which has been in orbit around Venus since 2015, studying the Venusian atmosphere. JAXA is currently making efforts to reestablish communication with the spacecraft.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/planetary.s3.amazonaws.com\/sites\/planetary\/images\/image_library_earth.png\" alt=\"Earth\" class=\"inline h-5 w-5 float-left mr-1 mt-1\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Starliner and Starship both launched successfully.<\/strong> On Thursday, Boeing&#8217;s new Starliner capsule safely docked with the International Space Station to deliver its two-member crew.
