Monday, August 5, 2024 AM Update:<\/strong><\/p>\n Hurricane Debby made landfall in Florida\u2019s Big Bend coastal area just after 11:00 PM on Sunday night as a Category 1 Hurricane, near Steinhatchee, Florida, just 9 miles southeast of where Category 3 Idalia made landfall on August 30, 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n Amateur Radio Emergency Service\u00ae\u00a0(ARES\u00ae) nets have been activated and will continue to monitor the situation. Surface reports may also be filed via Winlink or online form.\u00a0<\/p>\n The National Hurricane Center reports that sustained winds are 75 miles per hour (MPH), and the hurricane is moving north and east at 10 MPH. Debby is moving\u00a0toward the north-northeast near 10 mph (17 km\/h). A gradual decrease in forward speed with a turn toward the northeast and east is expected later today and Tuesday. On the forecast track, the center will slowly across northern Florida and southern Georgia\u00a0today and Tuesday and be near the Georgia coast by Tuesday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 75 mph (120 km\/h) with higher gusts. Additional weakening is expected as Debby moves over land today and tonight.\u00a0Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from\u00a0the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140.<\/p>\n
