Something  never seen before on the red planet!<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>These crystals are pure, elemental sulfur, which is unexpected on Mars. The Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (<abbr>APXS<\/abbr>), Canada&#8217;s contribution to Curiosity, played an important role in this discovery.
