{"id":789483,"date":"2024-09-24T09:18:50","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T14:18:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=789483"},"modified":"2024-09-24T09:18:50","modified_gmt":"2024-09-24T14:18:50","slug":"amsat-uk-new-project-announcement-amsat-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=789483","title":{"rendered":"AMSAT-UK New Project Announcement | AMSAT-UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>AMSAT-UK is delighted to have been able to accept an opportunity to provide a FUNcube Lite payload, with a mode U\/V\u00a0FM transponder, for the exciting Jovian-1 satellite. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This 6U CubeSat is being designed and built by\u00a0Space South Central\u00a0\u00a0which is\u00a0the largest regional space cluster in the UK.\u00a0 This is a partnership between industry and academia, designed to accelerate space business growth, grow the reputation\u00a0of the south central region of the UK and foster an environment of innovation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A collaboration between the universities of\u00a0Surrey,\u00a0Portsmouth\u00a0and\u00a0Southampton,\u00a0JUPITER \u2013 the Joint Universities Programme\u00a0for In-Orbit Training, Education and Research \u2013 will equip participants with invaluable hands-on space industry experience and\u00a0training for their future careers.<\/p>\n<p>The FUNcube Lite payload from AMSAT-UK will collect and send telemetry from Jovian-1 sub-systems for educational outreach\u00a0to schools and colleges, using the tried and tested FUNcube data format.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Telemetry will include data from the payload\u2019s own radiation sensor, along with GPS information gathered from the satellite\u2019s CAN bus.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These data can be used to map radiation throughout the orbit, identifying planetary radiation \u2018hotspots\u2019 such as the polar regions and the\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>South Atlantic Anomaly.
