{"id":790160,"date":"2024-10-10T08:16:56","date_gmt":"2024-10-10T13:16:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=790160"},"modified":"2024-10-10T08:16:56","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T13:16:56","slug":"bright-fireball-over-australias-east-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=790160","title":{"rendered":"Bright fireball over Australia\u2019s east coast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>A bright fireball was reported by hundreds of people over Australia\u2019s east coast on the morning of Thursday, October 10, 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Massive fireball spotted falling from the sky\" width=\"1110\" height=\"624\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9NPSWtJquTA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The object, which left a bluish-green trail, was visible from Toowoomba to Newcastle and Sydney, shortly before 06:00 local time (LT).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt definitely sounds like a meteor based on what everyone\u2019s seeing,\u201d said Brad Tucker, an astrophysicist from the Australian National University, during an interview with the radio show.<\/p>\n<p>The bright green glow of the object points to a meteor, as this color typically indicates the presence of iron and nickel.
