Mars<\/b><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
We’re here.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Centuries of reaching out<\/p>\n
and now we can take snapshots of your dust,<\/p>\n
and the furrows we once<\/p>\n
thought were canals.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Metal hands scoop your soil,<\/p>\n
searching for codes in your wastelands,<\/p>\n
ancient possibilities<\/p>\n
in that language of rust.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Our journey was fuelled by kerosene,<\/p>\n
by myth, by longing for the sky,<\/p>\n
by yearning for kin<\/p>\n
in this frigid darkness,<\/p>\n
blood ties made of cosmic grit.<\/p>\n

We know how but not why<\/p>\n
we revolve around this sun together,<\/p>\n
we split atoms without knowing why<\/p>\n
we won\u2019t split ourselves,<\/p>\n
cell by cell, at breakneck speed<\/p>\n
from a speck full of urgency<\/p>\n
became this being.<\/p>\n

Your body carries family secrets,<\/p>\n
traces of Earth\u2019s infancy,<\/p>\n
deepest memories of our nature.<\/p>\n
You are the answer to a question<\/p>\n
our species hardly understands:<\/p>\n
