{"id":792685,"date":"2025-01-15T03:45:03","date_gmt":"2025-01-15T08:45:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=792685"},"modified":"2025-01-15T03:45:03","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T08:45:03","slug":"iride-pathfinder-satellite-has-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=792685","title":{"rendered":"IRIDE pathfinder satellite has launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<header class=\"entry article__block\">\n\t<span class=\"pillar article__item\">Applications<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<span>15\/01\/2025<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t<span><span id=\"viewcount\">13<\/span><small> views<\/small><\/span><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span><span id=\"ezsr_total_26531253\">0<\/span><small> likes<\/small><\/span><\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"abstract article__block article__item\">\n<p>The first IRIDE satellite \u2013 the Pathfinder Hawk \u2013 is now in orbit around Earth after lifting off on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on 14 January.<\/p>\n<p>As its \u2018Pathfinder\u2019 name suggests, this new microsatellite is a prototype for one of the six IRIDE constellations, which are tailored to provide information for a wide range of environmental, emergency and security services for Italy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"article__block\">\n<p>Initiated by the Italian Government, the IRIDE programme leverages resources from the EU-funded Recovery and Resilience Plan for Italy (PNRR), along with funding from Italy\u2019s National Complementary Plan.<\/p>\n<p>ESA\u2019s role is to work with the Italian Space Agency (ASI) to realise the six satellite constellations for the IRIDE programme.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the six constellations carries specific satellite technology, from radar and optical to hyperspectral and multispectral instruments.
