Robotics operations on the International Space Station with Canadarm2 and Dextre<\/strong><\/p>\n
In November 2024, as part of the CRS-31 mission, flight controllers remotely manoeuvred Canadarm2 and Dextre to extract a payload from the SpaceX Dragon cargo ship’s trunk (CRS-31) and install it on the International Space Station.<\/p>\n This animation was developed in preparation for the operation and shows just how complex robotic tasks can be.\u00a0 (Credit:<\/span> NASA)<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n Canadarm2 and Dextre in action on the International Space Station!<\/p>\n This animation was developed to help prepare for complex robotic tasks.<\/p>\n Flight controllers on the ground remotely command Canadarm2 and Dextre to remove the payload from the Dragon spacecraft.<\/p>\n Canadarm2 is then relocated to the Mobile Base System.<\/p>\n The next day, the payload is installed on the port side of the ISS.\u00a0<\/p>\n And finally, the Canadian robots are powered down by\u00a0the flight controllers for a well-deserved rest!<\/p>\n
