{"id":794353,"date":"2025-03-13T09:03:04","date_gmt":"2025-03-13T14:03:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=794353"},"modified":"2025-03-13T09:03:04","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T14:03:04","slug":"bright-fireball-over-new-zealand-produces-sonic-boom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spaceweekly.com\/?p=794353","title":{"rendered":"Bright fireball over New Zealand produces sonic boom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A very bright fireball streaked over the Bay of Plenty at approximately 09:48 UTC (22:48 NZDT) on March 12 and was visible across the North Island.<\/p>\n<p>Reports came from Auckland, the Bay of Plenty, Hawke\u2019s Bay, Taranaki, Waikato, and Wellington.<\/p>\n<p>David Greig of Fireball Aotearoa\u2014a designated section of the Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand\u2014recorded the event using a Tapo C325WB security camera in rural \u014cp\u014dtiki.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sky and foreground appear very bright, similar to daytime, due to the moonlight and the camera\u2019s high sensitivity.
