Nearly four years ago, NASA announced that its Artemis III mission would include a lot of firsts: it would be the first to land on the moon since the end of the Apollo era, the first to touch down near the moon’s rugged south pole and the first to put both a woman and a person of color on the lunar surface.<\/p>\n

But in deference to President Trump’s anti-diversity, equity and inclusion directive<\/u>, the space agency has removed language about the diverse composition of the crew from some webpages.<\/p>\n

On one page originally published in 2023, NASA proclaimed that it would “land the first woman, first person of color, and first international partner astronaut on the Moon using innovative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before.” Now, however, the language has been expunged<\/u>.<\/p>\n
