THE PLANCK OBSERVATORY ARRIVES IN FRENCH GUIANA

The two passengers for Arianespace's April 16 mission are now at the Spaceport, following Planck's arrival in French Guiana aboard a chartered An-124 cargo jetliner and subsequent transfer to the S1B clean room. Planck will be joined by Europe's Herschel space telescope during the second Ariane 5 flight of 2009.

THE SOYUZ LAUNCH SITE REACHES CONSTRUCTION MILESTONE

The Russian-developed launch system for Soyuz' new base of operations in French Guiana is now being installed at the Spaceport. This activity began with placement of the multi-segment "support crown" on the site's concrete launch pad, followed by the mounting of the first of two umbilical masts.
