Spreading Thanksgiving bounty

The Peterson Diamond Council led by example and demonstrated what a good wingman does around the holidays. The group of first sergeants, along with vendors from the Peterson Air Force Base Commissary, made sure Airmen of Team Pete have all the necessary components of a solid Thanksgiving meal.

The holiday meal bag distribution has been an annual event as long as anyone can recall. This year the event was initiated by Master Sgt. Roger Davila, 561st Network Operations Squadron first sergeant.  He obtained information from the Diamond Council on how many holiday meal baskets would be needed, said Master Sgt. Jacob Sanchez, 21st Logistics Readiness Squadron.

Fits like a glove

Roscosmos commander Yuri Malenchenko, NASA astronaut Tim Kopra and ESA astronaut Tim Peake stand by the Sokol suits they will wear on launch day, 15 December.

Soyuz astronauts get to try their spacecraft and suits for the first time two weeks before being launched to the International Space Station. Each suit and spacecraft seat is tailor-made for comfort and safety.

Here, the Expedition 46/47 astronauts are inflating their Sokol suits to ensure there are no leaks. The suits will protect them in case of a sudden loss of pressure inside the Soyuz.

The trio have a six-month mission planned and are spending their last days on Earth preparing for the flight into space.

Follow Tim Peake via timpeake.esa.int, and follow the whole mission, including their time in Baikonur and the launch, via ESA’s Principia blog.
