AFSPC’s response teams compete, train for AF competition

Sixteen Air Force Space Command bioenvironmental engineering and emergency management personnel competed Feb. 8-12 to advance to an Air Force-level Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) competition in May.

The AFSPC CBRN Challenge at Brooks City-Base, Texas, is a week of realistic emergency scenarios, game show-style competitions to test overall knowledge, and robust lessons-learned discussions.

1st Lt. Christopher Bates, a BE element chief at the 90th Medical Operations Squadron, FE Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., led his team to victory and in the preliminary competition gained valuable experience in the process. “The Challenge absolutely helped us to identify where we can improve,” he said. “It was a great leadership experience for me.”
