The Los Angeles Air Force Base Men’s Basketball team, LA Storm, emerged victorious in the Pacific West Military Athletic Conference playoffs with a 66-53 victory over Miramar Marine Corps Base March 14. Led by the Conference Most Valuable Player and co-captain Alex Raco, the Storm withstood the pressure of entering the weekend as the overall number-1 seed and being the target of intense competition.
Taking advantage of a first-round bye earned during league play, the Storm defeated Edwards AFB 71-65 followed by a win over a pesky Miramar team 69-60. The team’s defense jump-started the play and physically wore down the opponents before the team’s offense, littered with scoring options, took over.
