24th Air Force changes command

24th Air Force welcomed a new commander July 31 during a ceremony at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.

Maj. Gen. Burke E. “Ed” Wilson assumed command of 24th Air Force from Maj. Gen. James K. “Kevin” McLaughlin.

Wilson comes to 24th Air Force from the Pentagon, where he served as the director of space operations, deputy chief of staff for operations for plans and requirements.

The 24th Air Force mission is to operate, extend and defend the Air Force Information Network, defend key mission systems, and provide full-spectrum cyberspace capabilities for the joint warfighter in, through and from cyberspace.
