The ESTEC Open Day on Sunday 5 October being formally opened by the Mayor of Noordwijk, Jan Pieter Lokker, with ESTEC Director Franco Ongaro beside him, and four astronauts: Italy’s first astronaut, Franco Malerba, and ESA astronauts André Kuipers, Paolo Nespoli plus Alexander Gerst – who sent a video message from the International Space Station.
