AIM mission at Le Bourget

ESA’s proposed Asteroid Impact Mission being presented to a packed crowd by mission manager Ian Carnelli during last week’s Paris Air and Space Show.

Set to be presented to Europe’s space ministers for approval near the end of next year, ESA’s AIM mission is being designed to encounter and study the Didymos binary asteroid during its Earth close encounter in 2022, and then witness it being struck by another NASA-led mission.

Ian and his team will be answering questions on the mission submitted via social media to mark next week’s international Asteroid Day on 30 June.
