On 50th Anniversary NASA Creates Tribute To Apollo 1 Astronauts

Apollo 1 astronauts  Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee, 1967. The astronauts died as a result of a fire in the cockpit during a training session on Jan. 27, 1967.

It’s been 50 years since a fire on the launchpad killed three astronauts during a test of Apollo 1. Friday will mark the first time the public can view the capsule as a tribute to the lives lost.
