Retroreflective Background Oriented Schlieren Imaging Results from the NASA Plume/Shock Interaction Test

Abstract: In support of NASA’s Commercial Supersonics Technology (CST) project, a test was conducted in the 9-by-7 ft. supersonic section of the NASA Ames Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel (UPWT). The tests were designed to study the interaction of shocks with a supersonic jet characteristic of those that may occur on a commercial supersonic aircraft.
