Stand Down 2010 focuses on suicide prevention, safety

In the wake of alarming loss of Air Force personnel the wing “stood down” a half-day May 11 to reflect on suicide and safety mishap prevention.

The objective of Stand Down 2010, according to the wing concept of operations, was to call attention to the recent rise in Air Force suicides, the tragic loss of Airmen to private motor vehicle accidents, and to reenergize the wingman concept as the foundational approach to suicide prevention and unit safety.

Lt. Col. Michael Wulfestieg, wing chief of safety, kicked off the stand down activities including a commander’s call highlighting everyone’s role in both suicide and safety mishap prevention.
