Abstract: The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has led in the development of unique flame retardant fibers for human spaceflight since the beginning of the Apollo program. After the Apollo 1 fire which killed Command Pilot Virgil I ‘Gus’ Grissom, Senior Pilot Edward H. White II, and Pilot Roger B.
