Research uncovers mechanism of plant hormone signaling

The plant hormone jasmonate (JA) regulates plant immunity and adaptive growth through orchestrating a genome-wide transcriptional program, which is mainly regulated by the master transcription factor MYC2. It’s well known that MYC2 is repressed by the conserved Groucho/Tup1-like co-repressor TOPLESS (TPL) in the resting state. However, the mechanisms underlying TPL-mediated transcriptional repression and hormone-dependent switching between repression and de-repression remain unclear.
