A newly-discovered asteroid designated 2024 EF will fly past Earth at a distance of just 0.15 LD / 0.00039 AU (57 668 km / 35 833 miles) from the center of our planet at 07:02 UTC on March 4, 2024.

This is the 17th newly-discovered asteroid to fly past Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year.

2024 EF was first observed at Mt. Lemmon Survey, Arizona on March 2 — two days before its close approach.

The object belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids and has an estimated diameter between 4.5 and 10 m (14.7 – 32.8 feet).
