NASA has approved an $800-million proposal to land an unmanned probe on a distant asteroid that’s hurtling towards this planet, a mission that would employ three high-precision, Canadian-built lasers to help guide the lander and bring samples of the space rock back to Earth for scientific studies that could shed fresh light on the birth of the universe.
