Breivik terrorist attacks in Norway led to mental illness in Denmark

The number of Danes diagnosed with trauma — and stressor-related disorders (such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)) — increased substantially following the terrorist attacks carried out by Anders Breivik in Oslo and on the nearby island of Utøya in Norway in the summer of 2011. The study also suggests that the intense media coverage of the attack is likely to be partly responsible for this effect across national borders.
