Tactical Satellite-3 transitioned from an experimental demonstration to an operational asset when spacecraft control authority officially transferred June 12 from the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Vehicles Directorate here to the 1st Space Operations Squadron at Schriever AFB, Colo.
“The transfer marks another milestone in the evolution and storied history of the 1st SOPS,” said Lt. Col. Lorenzo Bradley, 1st SOPS commander. “We are the first unit to operate an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform in the history of the 50th Space Wing.”
