61st MDS enlisted member selected for officer commissioning

An enlisted member from the 61st Medical Squadron has been selected for Officer Training School through the Senior Leader Enlisted Commissioning Program.

Staff Sgt. Katelin Robinson, 61st MDS noncommissioned officer in charge of Dental Logistics at the Los Angeles Air Force Base medical clinic, was notified of her selection for SLECP by Col. Donna Turner, 61st Air Base Group commander, Thomas Fitzgerald, Space and Missile Systems Center acting executive director and Chief Master Sgt. Craig Hall, SMC's command chief master sergeant.

Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration closing celebration

Lowry Air Force Base, Colorado, served as a technical training base throughout its nearly 60-year history as an active-duty installation, specializing in aerial photography, intelligence and training for the B-52 Stratofortress. However, Lowry AFB closed its gates Sept. 30, 1994, largely due to encroachment. 

Since that time, Buckley AFB and The Trust for Public Land have worked together to design a buffer zone around the base, creating a protected corridor for parks, trails and wildlife habitats, known as the Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration Program.
