As the single, largest domestic user of energy, the Air Force spends close to $9 billion annually to power its vehicle fleet, run its operations, and maintain its approximately 500,000 facilities throughout the United States. Looking at that number increasing each year, our nation can benefit from the wise use of energy at our Air Force installations.
With an effective energy management plan and a first-rate energy awareness program, we can save taxpayer dollars, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect the environment and natural resources, and contribute to our national security.
