Open to amateur astronomers and the public, this year’s festival promises to give visitors a new perspective on the night sky! Don’t miss the Canadian Space Agency’s Pierre Allard, who will present, “L’exploration robotisée de la planète Mars” (“The robotic exploration of Mars,” in French only) on July 10 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Allard’s presentation will be followed by a robotics demonstration using an exact replica that he built of the Sojourner rover that landed on Mars in 1997.
Other activities include planet and star observation, conferences, workshops, movies, and exhibits. The nights of July 9 and 10 are the only nights of the year that the public is invited to look through the Mont-Mégantic observatory’s 1.6-metre telescope. Many amateur astronomers will be present to share their passion for observing the skies.
Please note that festival activities are conducted in French only.
