Juice could be key to healthier diet

The American Heart Association recommends adults consume eight servings of fruit and vegetables daily.

Nature’s juicy offerings are high in vitamins, minerals and fiber, while low in fat and calories. They are often the first food Staff Sgt. Vanessa Arthur mentions when people ask for healthy eating tips, but the Schriever Health and Wellness Center diet therapist says, for whatever reason, many people have a tough time consuming them.

“Juicing is a great way to introduce more servings of fruit and vegetables into your daily diet,” Arthur said. “Juices are fun to make and cheaper than buying premade commercial juice products. And you can experiment with different fruits and vegetables and create custom blends.”
