Schriever Air Force Base has a goal to recycle 55 percent of its solid waste by 2015. This is in line with an Air Force policy issued this year. From May to August, the base already achieved a 10 percent reduction in solid waste diversion according to a recent audit.
In order to reduce the amount of recyclables found in dumpsters, the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron environmental element has begun installing new signs on both refuse and recycling containers to specify what materials may be placed in each container.
