Company Grade Officer of the Year — Captain Brian P. Murray is the Intelligence Flight Commander, 318th Operations Support Squadron, 688th Information Operations Wing, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. He is responsible for analysis of advanced adversary threats in order to develop new cyber tactics for 24th Air Force Intelligence and Operations planners to ensure Air Force computer networks are defended against foreign intrusions. Captain Murray received the Bronze Star Medal for his actions as a combat leader for a provincial reconstruction team in Afghanistan. He also conducted intelligence assessment on 140 reintegrated insurgents, decreased IED attacks, defended the $35 billion Air Force network, and led a community outreach initiative providing school supplies, soccer balls and radios to an Afghan orphanage, all while completing 12 credit hours toward his second master’s degree.
