Airman of the Year — Senior Airman Jonathan R. Middleton is a Journeyman Crew Chief, Instructor assigned to the 6th Space Warning Squadron, Cape Cod Air Force Station, Mass. He was the only junior enlisted Airman selected to support a MAJCOM-level TDY and named NAF Outstanding Performer, led a $18,000 simulator upgrade and self-help project saving $56,000, crafted 81 training projects, raised mission console training 250 percent and oversaw 432 training hours and a 153-hour remedial training program resulting in 32 members mission becoming ready with no repeat errors. Airman Middleton devoted 144 hours to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program as a mentor to an at-risk teenager, raised $2,000 for family emergency relief and helped the American Cancer Society raise $40,500 while earning nine credit hours toward his CCAF degree.
