The next flight of Arianespace’s heavy-lift Ariane 5 ECA launcher has been set for May 26, carrying a dual-satellite payload of the Satmex 6 and Thaicom 5 telecommunications spacecraft.
This will be another record-setting flight for Ariane 5, with the launcher’s payload weighing in at a combined mass of 8.3 metric tons.
In announcing the launch date during a briefing at Arianespace’s 2006 Customer Seminar, CEO Jean-Yves Le Gall said the company is on track for a busy year of six Ariane 5 launches.
