BUILD-UP PROCESS BEGINS FOR THE FOURTH ARIANE 5 OF 2009

A new Ariane 5 began taking shape in the Spaceport’s Launcher Integration Building this week with the erection of its cryogenic core stage, which was then moved into position over one of two operational mobile launch tables for the heavy-lift vehicle. In parallel, another Ariane 5 ECA is in the Final Assembly Building, where it is awaiting the integration of its TerreStar-1 payload. This spacecraft – which will be operated by TerreStar Networks Inc. – is to be the largest commercial telecommunications satellite ever launched.
